Inspirations

I enjoy being inspirated to create good work, and here are the secret ingredients behind my creation.

Victor Wooten
Not only is Victor a skilled bass player, but also he's very philosophical with music theory and training. "You are never more than a half step away from the right note" has been an inspirational quote to me in many ways ever since I have discovered his music. He's basically telling us that there's no wrong notes in music, and it all depends on how you play that makes the judgement.
Life
Every bits and pieces in my life are motivations behind what I do and how I think today. Something as simple as seeing a mushroom display at a clothing store can inspire me to create a new comic character, or a conversation about nothing with friends can be solidified and become a new idea for my next project. One way to creativity is to not be afraid about taking various sources and turn them into something acceptable within a given guideline.
Doraemon
Doraemon (ドラえもん) is a comic book series written by a Japanese manga artist named Fujiko Fujio. Eventhough the content is mainly targeted towards children, but it is also accepted among all ages. I love how different aspects in life are being addressed throughout Doraemon: being scolded by parents, being teased by friends, losing childood friends, dreaming about being popular in class. In Doraemon, the author also raises awareness of the environment and abandoned animals in hopes of creating an impact on the young. Most important, I learn about not being afraid to live your dream. There's so much to read and learn from this comic book that I'm hoping to do the same.
Post-modernism VS Pop Culture
Once a person or an object has become popularized by our culture at a given time, it loses its ownership and belongs to the mass. People begin to experiment with its existing meaning, to create new identity for it, and to challenge its context with the other cultural commodity. I'm in love with the idea of Post-modernisn, where exisitng meanings are broken down and are put back together to create new meanings. The act of consciously rethinking and challenging the world needs to be practiced in our everyday life instead of merely accepting facts as they are.
